Iranian nurses urge swift international action to prevent disaster in Gaza

Tehran, IRNA – A group of Iranian nurses in a letter to the International Council of Nurses (ICN) has called for swift international action to prevent the humanitarian disaster in Gaza.

In a letter sent to the president of the International Council of Nurses Pamela Cipriano on Wednesday, Iranian nurses called on the ICN to play a constructive role in supporting the Palestinians in Gaza, ensuring the safety of Gaza's health workers, and providing safe passage for the transport of war wounded, especially children and women in the region.

Strongly condemning the Zionist regime’s brutal attacks on the Gaza Strip and killing civilians in the occupied territories, Iranian nurses noted that “we as a nurse, always seek to make peace in every part of the world، and our mission is to provide services to all injured and patient regardless of color, race or nationality in such difficult conditions”.

Pointing to the current situation in the Gaza Strip, they noted that Gaza is now under complete siege; thus, children, women, and ordinary people do not have access to water, electricity, medicine, and food, adding that international bodies must find the solution to stop the blockade.

"We urge our colleagues and nursing associations in the region to negotiate with their governments for any intervention to end the conflict”, the letter read.

On October 7, the Palestinian fighters launched a hybrid surprise operation, dubbed Al-Aqsa Storm, outside Gaza after Israeli settlers stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in recent days and a record number of Palestinians were killed by Israel in recent months.

The Zionist regime has responded by pounding the besieged Gaza Strip after formally declaring war against the Palestinian Hamas group.
